A candidate seeking admission to the Ph.D. programme must satisfy the following eligibility requirements as per UGC norms:
- A Master’s degree from a recognized Indian Universitiy or any other equivalent degree to the satisfaction of the Academic bodies of the university, in the relevant field, with not less than 55% marks in aggregate or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is applied.
- A relaxation of 5% of marks to SC/ST/OBC/Differently-Abled and such other categories as per the decision of the Central and State Government.
Minimum of three (3) years, including course work, and a maximum of 5 years.
An applicant will be shortlisted for interview on the basis of his/her score in The Research Entrance Aptitude Test (TREAT). The final selection for admission in Ph.D. will be based on the candidates’ performance in the interview subject to scoring minimum marks.
***For SC/ST/OBC (Non creamy layers)/Differently-Abled category, Entrance Examination Score is minimum 45%.
EXAMPTION FROM ENTRANCE TEST:
Candidates shall have qualified in the NET/SLET/SET examination or have M.Phil. Degree in the concerned subject from UGC recognized University are exempted from the entrance test (TREAT) and directly appear in the interview.
All Ph.D. students shall take up the course work. However, a student with a M.Phil. degree is exempted from the Ph.D. course work and those who passed Ph.D. course work from UGC recognized university.
The Ph.D. course work of 16 credits. All Ph.D. Students shall undertake and complete the Ph.D. course work of 240 hours of contact and self study which may be conducted over one semester.
